The first of this week's scrapoff challenges was to do a layout with "I Wish for you...." I changed it around a little (after seeing that my friend Kathea did something similar) and did "My Prayer For You...." I used a picture of Jacob that was takend on Labor Day. Dave had just started a fire in the firepit at the lake when it started to pour. Jacob decided to use his body as a shield to protect the fire and he didn't give up until he was completely soaked and I yelled at him to come to the shelter.
This is the journaling I used:
When it started to rain right after Daddy started this fire, you were determined to protect it with your body. I pray that you will always persever...always do what you think is right...always put others needs above your own. Just like you did with that fire.
I also wrote the Bible vers 2 Peter 1:5-7 on it:
Make every effor to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, persevereance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love...this will keep you from being ineffective and unprductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The second challenge was to use an old tool with new supplies. For this I used some older pictures of Debbie and made a simple LO us my Fascinator, which I've had for a couple years but have used maybe twice. The I used some new Fancy Pants rubons.

This Weeks Scrap-Off Challenges
The first challenge was to create a layout using only paper and one embellishment. That one embellishment could be used more than once. The other day I was outside with my camera and all of a sudden Chris started making the craziest faces. Then, when I started taking pictures he stepped it up a notch. I love these pictures of him!
The next challenge was to make a layout of a favorite thing. My favorite is kind of a stretch but I've been wanting to use Debbie's song in a layout and so I decided to say she was my favorite musician. The story behind this is that a couple weeks ago we were driving home from town, just the two of us. All of a sudden she starts singing. The song she was making up was absolutely adorable! I grabbed some paper and wrote down the words she was singing. Don't ask me how I did that while I was driving..........

Scrap Off - Week 2
Like I said last week......I am in a little challenge. Every week there are 2 challenges I have to do. Here are this week's pages for the challenge.
For this first one I had to have a border on all 4 sides of the page and embellish them. Here's my take on that challenge:

This next page was a pretty quick one........and you can tell. I'm thinking that I will probably redo this at some point in the future. But for now.....it's done. For this challenge, I had to use a certain sketch as a guide.

A Couple Pages
Today I completed two scrapbook pages for a challenge I am in. I need to do 2 pages a week for the month of September.
This first challenge I needed to use stamping (on the white paper), paint (around the circles), and 3 circles (I used 4).
For the second challenge I needed to embellish some brads (I used Stickles on them) and put them in a shape (I did a circle).

Labor Day
For Labor Day we decided to do something we had never done before and planned a family picnic at the lake. We rarely go to the lake, although we should! So we got out there about 4:00 and the kids headed for the water right away. The rest of Dave's family was going to show up about 5:00 for the picnic. About 4:30 the kids were mostly done swimming and we unloaded all of the food from the van into the picnic shelter. About 4:45 Dave lighted the charcoal so we could grill hamburgers and hotdogs. About 5:00 it started to downpoor! Jacob tried to use his body to protect the fire from the rain, until he realized that was obviously not going to work. About 5:15 the rain somewhat stopped and we quickly packed everything up. By 5:30 we resumed our Labor Day picnic in my in-law's house. So much for trying something different this year.
Here are some pictures of my kids enjoying the water.

Benji wasn't too sure of the water so he stayed nice and safe on shore. Clara got this water squirter thingy for her birthday and thought it would be fun to bring it to the lake with us. Little did she know how NOT FUN this would actually be for her.
Chris thought this water squirter was great fun also. He liked to squirt it into the air and have it rain down on him.
Here's Clara looking around and checking things out.
Here are my 2 little fish. Jacob and Debbie loved swimming in the lake! Debbie was a little too comfortable in the water! As long as she had her arm floaties on she thought she was invincable. It's funny to watch her swim along and then all of a sudden flop over and float on her back. Her and Jacob had fun playing together.
Here's Jacob dragging Debbie back to shore when she would get out farther than I thought she should go. Left alone, she probably would have ended up in the middle of the lake.....and not minded at all! Notice that it's the end of the swimming season and we can't seem to find a matching set of arm floaties.
